The Mode option is only usable for tools that can be thought of as adding color to the image: the Pencil, Paintbrush, Airbrush, Ink, and Clone tools. It's getting there, and what's nice is that it's always updating and the developers are very responsive to the reviews. Download this app from Microsoft Store for Windows 10, Windows 10 Team (Surface Hub). Not the one with the ribbons or the new skeuomorphic one with the interface that can take up nearly half the screen. This is a very well done adaptation of ms paint on iOS. The goal is to remake MS Paint (including its little-known features), improve on it, and to extend the types of images it can edit.
